Civil Services Exam Results To Be Declared

The candidates have bagged the top three spots in the prestigious Civil Services examination to select IAS and IPS officers among others.

Ira Singhal has passed a test followed by Renu Raj and Nidhi Gupta, who secured second and third positions, respectively, according to the results announced by
Public Service Commission of the Union (UPSC) today.

Ira and Nidhi, who come from Delhi are Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Central Excise), while officers, Renu Raj is a medical doctor. She comes from Kerala.

“I’m really happy. I can not believe this. I only prepared for the test,” said Ira PTI.

Ira topped the exam in general category despite being physically disabled. “I want to be an IAS officer. I want to do something for the benefit of physically disabled people,” she said.

Renu Raj took second place at its first attempt. “I am very happy to know the result. I’ve been preparing for the exam for the last year,” he told PTI in Thiruvananthapuram.

Renu Raj, who works at a hospital in Kollam, in Kerala, hails from Kottayam.

Holder said Nidhi third row is a proud moment for her to be selected in the exam. “It is truly a proud moment. I put in lots of hard work finally paid,” he said. Nidhi is currently Deputy Commissioner of Customs and
Central Excise.

A total of 1,236 candidates, including 590 in the General category, 354 belong to another class back 194 98 scheduled caste and tribe, have been recommended for the performance of various government services, said the UPSC.

A total of 1,364 posts are to be filled by civil services examination.There ar254 other candidates on the waiting list.

It is the first time that the Commission has declared the final results on the fourth day of the deadline for personality tests or interviews, said a senior UPSC.

The examination is conducted by the UPSC public functions annually in three stages – preliminary, main courses and interviews – to select candidates for the Indian Administrative Service elite (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Service Indian police (IPS), among others.

Civil services preliminary examination was carried out on 24 August last year at 2,137 locations in 59 centers around the country. About 9.45 lakh candidates had applied, but about 4.51 lakh appeared for the exam.

Of which the official, 16,933 were declared qualified for the main examination he said. The main test was conducted in December last year and the 16 933 candidates,

The result of the civil services main examination was declared on March 13 this year. 3,308 candidates were declared qualified for the personality test. Of these, 3,303 came to the personality test, which took place from April 27 to June 30, the official said.

“In terms of the number of candidates and the number of centers and sub-centers, this was the largest examination ever undertaken by the Commission,” he said.
